Shahab Torabian PE, SE

Shahab Torabian is a Senior Project Manager at Simpson Gumpertz & Heger and an Associate Research Scientist at Johns Hopkins University. As a structural analyst and experimentalist, he specializes in high-fidelity numerical analyses and physical testing to advance the design of structural components and systems. Shahab has supported a diverse range of industries, including steel decking, metal buildings, cold-formed steel, heavy sheet piling, solar, nuclear, renewable energy, and aerospace, to enhance existing products and develop innovative solutions. A recognized researcher in the fields of Cold-Formed Steel and Structural Steel, he has authored numerous journal articles and conference papers. Shahab has served as a voting member of the AISI code committees—where critical cold-formed steel research is translated into practice—and is a member of the ASCE SEI Structural Member Committee.
